OCMA Advisory Committee Member
MONICA WRIGHT SHEFFIELD
My name is Monica Wright Sheffield. In stating my maiden name, I attest to the value of my roots/heritage and my upbringing, which figure greatly in who I am today and what moves me. I was taught by word and example the importance of faith in the Most-High, family togetherness, singing in harmony, constantly educating oneself, and putting in an honest day's work.
I bring to this group my conviction that education is key. I bring respect and a listening ear for the ideas/opinions of others. I bring my understanding that compassion and clear communication are valuable to accomplishing what we set out to do relationally or task-wise. Further, in that "no man is an island, entire of itself," I understand that as the individual prospers, the whole community (or world) prospers.

Conversely, if one is hurting or lacking, we all will experience the repercussions of that pain. I have a heart for the hurting; those who are regularly picked on, kicked on, or looked down on.

My degrees are in Psychology and Education. These fields of study, coupled with the knowledge that every person is deserving of equal opportunities to thrive, motivate me to touch who I can, while I can, with every ability that I have to offer.
